The Myth of Sisyphus

2014

Wood, varnish, metal, motor, textile, rope and polyurethane foam & performance

Art offers the opportunity of expression - by harnessing this ability one might reflect something about the world around us. The ‘revelation’ is disclosed in a form which might engage, entertain and possibly nauseate; everything is dependent on the viewer. The work consists of two parts paralleling each other. Human endeavours are echoed in Sisyphus’ rolling his boulder up the mountain, only for it to roll back down again, and the relentless task never ceases. Routine is explored through a diluted climax foreseen as a repeated and retold prophecy.
